We have received a large number of exciting abstracts and now have enough to run three to four concurrent sessions for most of the conference. The scientific committee is currently putting a programme together and we should be able to inform potential presenters soon as to whether their papers have been accepted or not. We also have an exciting range of abstracts for posters, and the student day.
We have ten plenary speakers confirmed for the conference.

A new initiative to strengthen links between the Australian Ecological Society (ESA) and NZES is to invite a key award winner from the other society to the annual ecological society meeting in the other country. This year Professor Corey Bradshaw (the 2010 recipient of the ESA Ecology Research Award) will be presenting as a plenary speaker.
