Senior Tutor, Waterways Centre for Freshwater Management

Part-time at 26.25 hours per week (0.75 FTE)
Fixed Term for Three Years
The Waterways Centre is a joint initiative between the University of Canterbury and Lincoln University. It is a Centre for both education and research. The Centre is focused on improving knowledge-driven management of freshwater resources in Canterbury, but also aims to address national and international water management issues.

We are looking for a senior tutor who will be an active member of the team to provide support in the coordination of teaching and support services.

To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for water issues, and will enjoy teaching and working with students.  You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of disciplines and your organisational skills with be essential in your ability to effectively support the teaching programme throughout the academic year.

This programme is constantly evolving and as a result, you will have the opportunity to evolve with it and potentially grow into other aspects of the Centre’s work such as research, fieldwork and community outreach on water issues.

To be successful in the role you will require a post-graduate research degree in any discipline of relevance to water resource management.  You will have demonstrated experience in undergraduate or postgraduate tutoring and have the potential to be an excellent teacher.  Experience in teaching administration and on-line student support systems will be an advantage, as will your ability to work independently with minimum supervision.  You will need to hold a current first aid certificate and (preferably) a drivers licence throughout this tenure of this position.
