Update on joint conference in Hamilton - August 19-23

The joint NZFSS, NZMSS and ASFB conference “Aquatic science at the
interface” is now only 2 months away. It promises to be a stimulating
conference with 67 posters and 367 oral presentations extending over 6-7
concurrent sessions. Twenty-two of these are Special sessions focussing on
topical issues and we have an excellent line-up of plenary, keynote and
award talks (see for further details). The conference
programme will be online from the 24th June.
With this number of talks the conference is likely to run to capacity for
full registration so we recommend that members register early to avoid
disappointment - early bird registration closes on 5 July. To register
online go to:

We also recommend that you take advantage of the block accommodation
bookings at the Novatel and Ibis hotels - rooms are being held for us until
5 July and are likely to disappear quickly after that with other conferences
in Hamilton happening at the same time. Conference registration will be open
on Sunday evening (August 18) in the Novatel from 5-7 pm when there will
also be a pre-conference mixer.
Several other social functions have been organised including a mixer on
Monday evening following the poster session, an early career function on
Tuesday evening, and the conference dinner on the Wednesday evening. The
theme for the dinner is “The Life Aquatic” - watch the movie for some ideas
or let your imagingation run wild for costume ideas.

Hamilton airport can sometimes be closed in the morning with fog so we
suggest arriving on the Sunday. If you are flying into Auckland it would be
advisable to pre-book transport down to Hamilton (see the website for

We look forward to welcoming you in Hamilton
